Houthi Attacks on Saudi Airports Kill 19, Injure 364, Saudi-Led Coalition Says

RIYADH, WORLD.BENUAPOST.ID – A series of attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement against several airports in Saudi Arabia has killed at least 19 people and injured 364 others, according to the Saudi-led coalition on Thursday, October 15, 2026, amid escalating military tensions across the Middle East.

Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki al-Maliki said King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh had been among the primary targets. According to his statement, the airport had come under attack 20 times since the beginning of October 2026.

Attacks on the Riyadh airport between October 7 and 11 reportedly killed 17 people and injured 333 others. Meanwhile, an attack on Abha International Airport in the southwestern Asir region killed two people and wounded another 28, according to figures released by the coalition.

Three additional people were reportedly injured in an attack targeting King Abdullah International Airport in the Jazan region. Saudi sources said five airports across the kingdom had been targeted since October 5.

Saudi-Led Coalition Reports Escalation

Al-Maliki said attacks against Saudi Arabia had intensified since the beginning of October, following an escalation by the Houthi movement against the kingdom that began in July.

“Houthi attacks on the Kingdom have intensified since the beginning of October, following an escalation by the Iran-aligned group against Saudi Arabia since July,” Al-Maliki said, as quoted by Anadolu Agency.

The Saudi-led coalition also accused the Houthis of obtaining advanced military technology with assistance from regional actors. According to the coalition, such capabilities have been used to launch attacks involving missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Al-Maliki further stated that coalition forces had destroyed 127 warehouses in mountainous areas of Yemen, along with several weapons-launching sites allegedly associated with the Houthi movement.

However, the figures concerning attacks, casualties and military targets reflect information provided by the Saudi-led coalition. They should be distinguished from independent verification of individual incidents.

Yemen Conflict Intensifies

The reported attacks on Saudi infrastructure come amid worsening security conditions in Yemen. The Saudi-led coalition supports Yemen’s internationally recognized government in its conflict with the Houthi movement, including through air operations against targets associated with the group.

The escalation has raised concerns about civilian safety and commercial aviation. Attacks on airports can cause casualties and damage infrastructure while disrupting passenger travel and international flight operations.

The latest incidents have once again highlighted the fragile security situation in the region and raised concerns that the conflict in Yemen could further undermine stability across the Middle East.
